SCC Give Thanks
Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate more than just turkey and stuffing (though understandably, it is a very important part of the holiday). It’s a time to be grateful for all of the good fortune that has come our way. Here at Scott Circle Communications, there’s a lot we’re thankful for.
We’re thankful for each other, and that we have a very supportive and collaborative team (that keeps on growing)! And we’re thankful for our clients, many of whom share our mission-driven philosophy to raise awareness and advocate for issues that matter - we’re grateful for the important work that they’re doing to try and make the world a better place.
So in the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are some insights from our team on a few things we’re grateful for, that make our professional and personal lives a little better….
Laura (President): I’m thankful for the team at Scott Circle Communications. We truly all have each other’s backs - it’s all for one and one for all. Everyone at our firm wants to help each other out - whether it’s brainstorming, filling in when someone is on vacation, reviewing documents or really working hard to support our clients meet their goals.
And speaking of teams - I’m also grateful for the Washington Nationals winning the World Series. Whether you are a baseball fan or not, I think it’s just such a wonderful thing for an entire city to be rooting for the same thing. Watching the Nationals march to victory brought together so many different people in the city - the entire town was able to celebrate.
Kellie (SVP): I’m more grateful than ever for my Washington Post subscription. Democracy does indeed die in darkness and I thank the dedicated journalists at my hometown paper for continuing to fearlessly shine a light on facts.
The other bright spot for me this year is the amazing team I work with at Scott Circle. When I did this to my arm everyone from our founder to the front desk stepped up to make sure our clients were taken care of and helped carry heavy stuff for me.
Working with good people who do good work is a true gift.
Dee (VP): Professionally speaking, I’m thankful for Feedly, a news aggregation tool that pulls together in one place all of the media websites, blogs, and feeds that I try to keep track of every day. Being a consumer of information and keeping on top of the latest headlines helps me be much more effective in what I do each day. On a personal note, I’m super thankful for a great network of friends and family who are not only always supportive, but are also very good at cooking and keeping me well-fed (especially around Thanksgiving)!
Lauren (Manager): I remain eternally grateful to Gmail’s “undo send” button for saving me from myself personally and professionally many times over. And I’m very thankful for their new schedule send button, which has definitely allowed me to be a little more untethered from my technology and more connected to life beyond screen time.
But most of all, I’m so hugely grateful to have capped off my 2019 by joining the SCC team!
Daniella (Senior Associate): I am thankful for Slack, which is the best tool for our office to work together, collaborate and share stories! This communication tool keeps everyone on task and up to date with the latest gifs. Being able to stay in touch and share documents easily with our team especially if we are off-site or working from home makes life a little bit easier. How did we ever survive without WORK INSTANT MESSENGER (WORK AIM)!
#NOTanAD but I am forever grateful for Tervis Tumblers, especially my Scott Circle Communications tumbler that helps me stay hydrated all day long! As I get older I realize that staying hydrated is the key when working on big projects and keeping my energy up. I am thankful that my team loves a little SCC swag too, we have gotten great gifts that we use all the time!
Elizabeth (Associate): I am thankful for all of my AWESOME colleagues at Scott Circle Communications. It is really special to work in a supportive, empowering, and extra fun environment. I am so lucky that the people I work with everyday are also my friends.
I am also especially thankful for my sweet princess angel dog, Sophie. She makes everyone happy.
Matheson (Coordinator): I am thankful for Google Drive. Being able to share documents with clients and colleagues, and edit in real time, is efficient and promotes collaboration. The ability to store files in the cloud simplifies everything from updating an editorial calendar to brainstorming social media content to creating lists of outlets to pitch. The review and commenting functions are helpful, and the platform is very user-friendly, especially when working across multiple time zones and workspaces.
Also, this year (and every year) I am thankful for pizza.
Dani Townsend (Administrative Coordinator): I am so thankful to have joined the SCC team. Everyone has been so helpful, friendly, and warm. I am excited to be celebrating the holidays and bringing in the new year/decade with my new work family!
Personally, I am thankful for my Sphynx cat Hiccup. He’s beautiful, energetic, loves to cuddle and doesn’t leave me covered in cat hair lol
Nathalie (Intern) : Finding relevant media contacts sometimes seems like an impossible task. That’s why I’m thankful for Cision. Being able to monitor topics and find contacts in a second has helped me target and track key journalists. It’s like a little library for PR pros.
Personally, I’m thankful for the Scott Circle family for giving me the opportunity to learn from them. Whether it’s listening in on meetings or working on research for clients, everyone has been extremely helpful and encouraging to help me succeed.
It’s also pretty nice to watch viral videos and get free pizza coupons together.
