Living Our Values and Giving Back with The Purpose PRogram
Every day at Scott Circle Communications (SCC) we are fortunate to work with mission-driven clients who truly make a difference in people’s lives. I’ve always been proud that our team also prioritizes giving back, consistent with our passion for making the world a better place - from taking the time to do informational interviews to volunteering at our local women’s shelter. Still, I knew there was something more we could be doing for the community - I just wasn’t sure what that was.
Then last spring I learned about the birdSEED fund, a microgrant for nonprofits, sponsored by Flock DC. I was so inspired by stories of their positive impact that I challenged our team to come up with ideas for how we could serve nonprofits in our area in a way that was aligned with our unique expertise and core values. After all, SCC has been successfully raising the profile of mission-driven organizations since our founding almost 15 years ago, even winning national awards for our work with nonprofits.
After months of brainstorming and planning, The Purpose PRogram was born.
Designed with the input and commitment of our whole team, The Purpose PRogram is an opportunity for us to use our public relations knowledge to empower nonprofits who might not have the resources or training to execute effective PR strategies on their own. Our goal is to provide these organizations with the skills and tools they need to better raise awareness of the important work they do and the impact they have in our area.
Through our no-cost, six-month, professional development program and under the guidance of SCC’s PR professionals, participants will develop their own targeted, ready-to-implement communications plans. If we can play a small role in helping local nonprofits be more impactful, our entire community will benefit. After all, as the saying goes, “a rising tide lifts all boats.”
We are excited to launch The Purpose PRogram, but we need your help to recruit people from deserving nonprofits that want to participate. Please spread the word and encourage DC-area nonprofits to apply.
