Sr. Vice President – Communications

Project/position overview:

The Sr. Vice President is a senior member of Scott Circle’s growing team of professionals. S/he supervises senior members of the team, providing top-level guidance on objectives, strategies, and implementation of public relations projects. In order to be successful, the Sr. Vice President must juggle multiple tasks at once, moving swiftly, and supervise multiple teams. This position will recognize emerging and/or unexpected internal staffing needs quickly and to address them appropriately and professionally, and work with mid-level and other senior staff on professional development.

Specific roles and responsibilities:

– Counsel and oversee senior staff in developing and executing strategy, and high-quality work product for clients;

– Ensure staff is successfully managing and anticipating client needs;

– Confidently give direction, make quick decisions and provide meaningful feedback to clients and staff;

– Operate at a high level of independence and display problem-solving skills;

– Interface with senior executives on client side and provide senior-level strategy;

– Manage client contracts, profitability and budgets;

– Solid understanding of the “big picture” for both clients and the firm;

– Participation in the hiring process;

– Responsible for supervising, and professionally developing staff;

– Cultivate new business and pitch potential clients;

– Research, write and develop new business proposals;

– Promote a culture of high performance, quality of work and continuous improvement.

Competencies and skills the position will be evaluated on:

Big picture thinker; takes initiative; oral and written communication skills; organizational skills; creativity; leadership; project management; ability to effectively influence and interact with high-level clients and vendors.

Qualifications: (i.e. Education, Certifications, Experience Level)

– A. or B.S

– 10+ years of public relations professional experience.

– Experience managing clients at a PR firm.

– A consistent and demonstrated record of success in executing PR plans and strategies.

– Supervisory experience of staff in a PR setting and leading communication teams.

– Extensive experience working with the media.

– Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general Internet and e-mail.

– Excellent communications skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).

– Must be highly organized, detail oriented, motivated and able to “hit the ground running.”

Intern – Communications

Project/position overview:

The communications intern at Scott Circle has the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and learn from a team of top public relations professionals. The intern will work on communications strategies with a variety of clients including associations, corporations, start-ups, non-profits and events.

Specific roles and responsibilities:

– Provide support for client projects;

– Create targeted media lists for broadcast, radio, print and online outlets;

– Assist with research for clients;

– Assist with staffing events;

– Assist with social media efforts;

– Various administrative duties, as assigned.

Competencies and skills the position will be evaluated on:

Detail-orientated, organized; collaboration/team-player; initiative; multitasking, eagerness to learn and develop professionally.

Qualifications: (i.e. Education, Certifications, Experience Level)

– College student studying public relations, communications, journalism or a related field.

– General computer knowledge of programs such as email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

– Mac computer proficiency preferred, but not required.


– This internship can count toward college credit, though of course we would want to review the rules/qualifications with you.

– Stipend provided.

– Part-time or full-time schedule, Monday – Thursday.
